Rowan are looking to recruit an Environmental Director. Rowan is an ambitious, growing, dynamic multidisciplinary company that provide Environmental Consultancy and Forensic Engineering services.
The Role
Experienced Environmental Director with hybrid working model to be based in our offices in Trim, Co Meath or Oranmore, Co Galway. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing teams and project delivery with an excellent understanding of the Renewable Energy and/or Food & Drink industries. You will provide strategic guidance and management to ensure successful growth of an existing enthusiastic environmental team with the following departments:
- Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) & Environmental Planning
- Environmental Due Diligence & Land Contamination
- EPA Licensing
- ESG & Sustainability
- Drone Surveying
The ideal candidate will have excellent commercial awareness with a proven track record of developing and upskilling internal teams to achieve high performance. You will be part of the leadership team that reports to and is supported by the Manging Director in a role that includes:
- Developing the growth strategy for the environmental team.
- Managing, guiding and mentoring an enthusiastic team.
- Improving the environmental performance for a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors.
- Agree and manage monthly team budget, targets & performance.
- Recruit and Retention of the environmental team.
- Business Development & Bidding.
- Manage Team Schedules, project delivery, and exceeded client expectations.
- Direct, lead and deliver designated environmental projects
You will have the autonomy to complete excellent work your way, in accordance with the company vision to ‘Provide Excellence with a Sense of Humour’. There will be regular contact and support from the leadership team and Managing Director. Hybrid Working arrangement with 2 days per week based in a Rowan Office.
Technical knowledge and experience in the Irish environmental planning system and the project management of EIARs, particularly with respect to Wind Farms, other renewable energy and food and drink sector would be preferred.
Competencies
The required candidate must have the following knowledge and attributes:
- A third level qualification (Degree/Masters) in environmental science or related discipline.
- Experience working in the Irish environmental consultancy sector.
- 12+ years’ relevant experience preferred.
- Ability to project manage multi-disciplinary teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Highly motivated individual with strong attention to detail.
- Be self-motivated and solution driven.
- Strong knowledge of internal management systems and experience of new software implementation would be advantageous.
- A full clean driving licence.
