» Assistant Forensic Engineer / Engineering Expert Witness

Job Role
Assist a senior engineer to:
• Carry out inspections at accident locations (road, factory, building, etc).
• Record dimensions, slopes, slip assessments, force calculations, light assessments etc as required.
• Research regulations, standards and guidelines.
• Create a technical report.
• Advise clients on liability.
• Deliver evidence and face cross-examination as expert witness in court case.

Required Qualifications & Experience
• The required candidate must have an Engineering degree (Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial).
• Enthusiastic and willing to take on challenging tasks
• Good ability to communicate with people
• Professional, structured and organized
• Good technical report writing
• Capable of being composed under pressure
• Proven problem solving skills
• Excellent researcher of standards, guidelines and best practice
• At least 5 years’ experience in some of the following disciplines:
– Forensic Engineering
– Road construction and repair
– Road traffic accidents
– Building construction
– Structural engineering
– Mechanical Engineering
– Industrial machinery
– Providing expert witness in court
– Health and safety
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and excel is essential
• The selected candidate will receive comprehensive and continued training.
• Expertise in the following areas is a bonus:
– Road traffic accident collision analysis
– Road traffic accidents
– NRA DMRB standards
– Providing expert witness evidence in court
– Investigation of fire/electrical accidents
– Manual Handling/ergonomics
– Proficiency in CAD or other drawing applications is beneficial

Job Role
• Inspection and review of Wastewater treatment plant operations
• Compile Wastewater treatment plant operations manuals
• Training of Wastewater treatment plant operators
• Troubleshoot Wastewater treatment plant problems
• Design Wastewater treatment plant processes
• Assist in other environmental projects being completed by the department:
• Industrial & Discharge Licencing
• Environmental Auditing
• Phase 1 and 2 Due Diligence surveys
• Waste permits
• NMPs
• Monitoring & Sampling
• Appropriate Assessment

Job Role
Environmental Consultant required to manage an established small environmental department with 3-4 consultants.
Opportunity to assist an established small environmental department to develop and grow the business.
Complete and/or manage 2-3 other consultants to carry out the following tasks:
• Industrial & Discharge Licencing
– Drafting Industrial Emissions Licence application
– Drafting ELRA reports and DMPs
– Discharge licence application
– Drafting discharge licence manuals
– Preparing annual environmental reports
– Drafting EMS documents
• Auditing
– Prepare/ draft audit paperwork: templates, final report and recommendations
– Review monthly reports and prepare summary sheets (monthly)
– Attend audits
• Due Diligence
– Phase 1 and 2 Due diligence reports
– Prepare environmental due diligence screening reports and full investigation reports
– Site visits, identify potential risks
– Visit EPA offices or planning offices to review paperwork for sites
• Waste permits
– Preparing Waste Collection Permit applications
– Preparing waste facility permit applications
• NMP
– Draft NMPs for industrial and municipal sludge
• Monitoring & Sampling
– Noise monitoring
– Soil sampling
– Sludge sampling
– Discharge sampling
– Groundwater sampling
– Preparing monitoring/ sampling reports
• Appropriate Assessment
– Prepare appropriate assessment screening for dwellings, schools, agricultural developments ect
– Site visits, identify habitats and potential pathways
• Other duties
– Assist with preparing business plan for the department including identifying future opportunities.
– Proofread consultant reports & provide feedback prior to issue
– Prepare templates for client use, eg waste registers, monthly/ weekly analysis
– Preparing quotations and tender documents for works

Qualifications and Experience
• Degree level in a relevant Environmental or Engineering discipline (eg. Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management)
• 5 years’ experience in an industrial or regulatory environmental role or environmental consultancy
