Wastewater Assimilation Capacity

A Wastewater Assimilation Capacity (WAC) is a study on a water body’s capacity to receive wastewater discharge without causing significant deterioration of the water quality. It is often required at the permitting and planning stage for developments that will discharge to a surface waters. Rowan Engineering Consultants has experience in conducting Waste Assimilation Capacity studies, through quantifying the flow of the discharge and the receiving water, and establishing key environmental parameters, we can calculate if the receiving waters has the capacity to receive discharge without suffering deterioration in water quality in accordance with European Communities Environmental Objectives (Surface Waters) Regulation 2009 (S.I. 272 of 2009).
