Nutrient Management Plans (NMP) are a key component in managing organic fertilisers (e.g. slurries, waste water treatment plant sludge’s, paunch) from EPA licenced sites, Local Authority licenced sites and farms to ensure optimal crop yields for farmers and environmental protection. The application of organic fertilisers replaces the need for farmers to use chemical fertilisers on land. The landspreading of organic fertilisers is governed by the European Communities (Good Agricultural Practice for the Protection of Waters) Regulation 2014 (S.I. 31 of 2014).
The landspreading of Sewage Sludge is governed by the Waste Management (Use of Sewage Sludge in Agriculture) Regulations, 1998 and the Waste Management (Use of Sewage Sludge in Agriculture) Regulations, 2001. These regulations require that sludge is only used in accordance with a Nutrient Management Plan.
Rowan Engineering Consultants carry out detailed Nutrient Management Plans, which provide information on fertilisers, soil analysis and crop requirements. For more information on Nutrient Management Plans, and how we can assist you, please contact us.
